Water Sports
Gulf, bays, rivers, sounds, and the IntercoastalWaterway make vacationing in Pensacola a water wonderland. Fishing, boating, sailing, and diving are a few sports you can experience on our plentiful waterways.
A Splashing Good Time
Outdoor opportunities stretch from the shimmering Gulf of Mexico to the rustic woodlands and creeks of the "Canoe Capital of Florida" in Milton. Whether it's fishing, camping, para-sailing, enjoying a dolphin cruise, or exploring hiking trails, Perdido Key and Pensacola Beach provide the perfect setting for whatever floats your boat.
Getting back to nature is also what draws visitors to Adventures Unlimited and Blackwater Canoe Rental in nearby Milton where you can kayak, canoe, and tube down down spring-fed rivers. The cool, refreshing water is clean and clear, turtles are seen sunbathing on banks, and sandbars offer a great place for picnics.
Outdoor enthusiasts are looking forward to the completion of the Perdido Canoe Trail in 2005, offering an 80-mile trail featuring diverse ecosystems within a single trail, from a river to shoreline saltmarches to the Gulf of Mexico. Trail maps, kiosks at river put-ins, and eight primitive campsites will allow tourists to paddle the entire distance with overnight rest stops. For more information contact Bill Hay at wchay@gulf.net
